Why are there still religious people?

It is a socially-acceptable excuse for adults to believe in magic and have an imaginary friend. In some places it is not only socially-acceptable but required. These myths linger on in part due to the strength of history and tradition behind them, in spite of the fact that they are the empty fictions of an earlier and more ignorant age of humanity.
