What signal is a woman showing when she walks by you, and glances at you, turning her eyes towards you?

I'm in my mid-fifties, back into the dating scene, and this happens at the gym with one of the aerobics instructors. Sometimes a wave hi, but usually a glance and sometimes a smile.
